The Arkansas State Game

Go Blue!

Auburn 52...Arkansas State University 26

Let the season begin.

Questions, questions, questions...we even got an answer or two.

Cam Newton, Michael Dyer and the Auburn Defense were the subject of most of the questions. It appears that Newton and Dyer answered the questions about themselves. They look to be capable of leading the Auburn Offense. Newton was even named SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

Defensively, the questions remain. I don't think anyone is satisfied after giving up 26 points and 366 yards to Arkansas State.

It was great to see everyone again. We missed everyone that didn't make it.

Behind The Head player of the game...Cam Newton. 357 yards of total offense and 5 touchdowns.

Runnerup...Darin Bates, who had 10 tackles in his new linebacking position.

Majestic!
War Damn Band!
Go Tigers!

Spirit and the War Damn Band set the mood for the Tigers stadium entry!

Say What?

Arkansas State got on the scoreboard first after a 61 yard completion to Allen Muse.

Stuffed!

Big Mike Blanc slapped the point after attempt to the ground leaving ASU with a 6-0 lead ten minutes into the game.

Zoom!

Auburn responded with an all rushing touchdown drive that included an Onterio McCalebb 35 yard sprint.

Up and Away!

Kodi Burns capped off the drive with a 3 yard flight. Maybe the drive wasn't an all rushing drive.

Gotcha!

Nick Fairley and Antoine Carter corralled ASU quarterback Ryan Alpin for a 14 yard loss.

Go Deep! I'm There!

Cam Newton had pretty good protection all day and he made the ASU defense pay the price. Mario Fannin here is running under his first touchdown catch of the day.

Right!

This was one of the longest 16 yard runs I've seen. Newton (#2) couldn't find a receiver, so he scrambled to his right.

Left!

There were too many Red Wolves there, so he moved back to his left.

Right!

Then he doubled back to his right and found defensive linemen too tired and confused to stop him..

S-I-X!

After a Neil Caudle to Darvin Adams 42 yard completion (yes, you read that right), Cam Newton plunged in for the touchdown.

NO!

Aaron Savage (and the rest of the defense) unsuccessfully tried to prevent Je Robertson from scoring from 13 yards out.

Boom!

At times, it rained footballs. Newton dropped this 48 yard bomb to Quindarius Carr late in the first half.

Go Short! I'm There Again!

I was impressed with Newton and Fannin on this play. Fannin broke to the right sideline and Newton looked at him. Newton turned to his left, looked the defenders to the other side of the field, then dumped the ball to Fannin. Fannin stood patiently waiting for the ball, then sprinted 38 yards to the endzone.

Again?

Newton to Carr again, but only for 39 yards. I thought Quindarius Carr's A-Day game performance was a fluke...maybe not!

New Guy!

Michael Dyer came to Auburn with a lot of hype. It may turn out to be justified. In his first college game, Michael rushed for 95 yards on 14 carries including this 2 yard touchdown.

Just a Baby!

Let's go get some more cowbells on Thursday night!
